About Us
Segura Group is a family enterprise that initiated activities in the copper mining sector in 1987.
Management and development of this resource empowered the expansion of our agro-industrial activities, which began in 1992.
Our pillars of growth have been anchored in the acquisition and activation of our own fields oriented toward the production of fresh and dried fruits. Additionally, we have also constructed and commissioned processing plants for our export enterprise, Frutland S.A.
This approach has allowed us to foster long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers, as well as to consolidate a dedicated and well-trained team.
History
The agricultural exporter Frutland, established in 2012 in Chile, is committed to supplying fresh and dried fruits, as well as wine grapes, to the international market.
Frutland is a part of the Segura Family Group, which owns and cultivates 2,300 hectares in the Chilean agricultural regions of Maule and Araucanía and operates its own fresh and dried fruit processing plants.
Team
From its start, the Segura Family Group, alongside highly competent personnel, has managed the Agricultural, Processing, and Commercial sectors; the contributions of the Technical, Administrative, Personnel, and Risk Prevention areas have also been significant. The Segura Group has consistently strengthened its presence both nationally and internationally over the years.
Our Fields
To maintain a robust operation and meet growing demands for quality, safety, and supply consistency, the Segura Family Group sources fruit exclusively from its own companies’ fields: La Hacienda Ltda., La Sorpresa Ltda., and Arrayan Ltda. The Group persistently seeks ways to utilize water resources efficiently, apply advanced production technologies, rationalize input use, and install frost control measures such as tents and towers. Additionally, they’ve established photovoltaic plants to power their irrigation systems and water pumps, which draw from underground aquifers. Recognizing the crucial role of water resources, they’ve constructed water storage facilities across several fields, with a total capacity of 1,400,000 cubic meters.
Processing Plants
With over a decade of operation, the Segura Family Group has established processing plants and auxiliary facilities in the VII Region of Maule. These cater to fruits such as cherries, hazelnuts, walnuts and pears. In the IX Region of La Araucanía, they’ve set up a plant responsible for the preliminary stage of hazelnut processing, which includes fruit cleaning and drying.
PACKING AND REFRIGERATION – LA HACIENDA (VII REGION – MAULE)
The Segura Family Group has procured the necessary machinery and equipment for fruit processing, including atmosphere-controlled chambers, conventional refrigeration units, reception areas, and refrigeration tunnels. Their selection of high-quality products significantly enhances their brand reputation, backed by over a decade of processing experience, quality management systems, and certifications that meet international standards.
HAZELNUT DRYING PLANT (IX REGION – ARAUCANIA)
The hazelnut drying plant in Araucanía is responsible for the initial processing stage of the harvested fruit. It thoroughly cleans the fruit, removing residual materials from the harvest such as branches, leaves, and stones. The plant then focuses on reducing the moisture content of the fruit, which initially arrives from the orchard with a level exceeding 20%. Through the drying process, the plant effectively lowers the moisture content, ensuring it does not surpass 6-7% before the shelling process begins. To comply with the indicated drying and cleaning, the plant has ovens, a dehumidification chamber, a washing installation, classifying screens, and additional facilities such as a reception hopper, and storage warehouses.
